Late Night Phone Call

Have I totally thrown you with that title?

Good, I meant to.
Because let me tell you, this was not the kind of late night phone call you like.
It was probably the strangest phone call of my life!

So last night at 12:30am, yes 12:30, I got a call from a number that is not saved in my phone.
My first thought, was WTF? Who the heck is calling me this late.

So I answered, because I was curious, and it was some girl.
She said she was glad she finally got me and asked how I was.

I was completely dumbfounded. I went on to ask who it was (some girl named Britney) and how we had met.

She said we met at Epcot two weeks ago.
Yeah I have absolutely NO recollection of meeting this girl and giving her my phone number.
I wasn't even at work when we met apparently.  She said we meant at the French pavilion and got to talking.  I was with another friend and so was she.

(Sidenote: I don't normally give my number to girls.  Guys? Yes. But girls, not so much.)

Not only that but, I haven't been to Epcot for fun since my BF Ashley came to visit and that was the first week of August. Which wasn't two weeks ago.

We had a really awkward 8 minute conversation where I apologized for not remembering, she said she was sad I didn't remember, and then we hung up.

I then spent the next 20 minutes trying to remember who the heck this girl is.
And you know what?
I STILL have no idea who she is.

My roommate swears it had to have been a prank call.
But who does a prank call like that?
It wasn't funny at all, it was just really weird and slightly creepy.

At the end of the call and the rest of the night I had this look on my face:

Did that really just happen?
Yes, yes it did.

Hope you all had a great Saturday night.

Hopefully it didn't end as strangely as mine did! :)

Book Club Friday: The Hunger Games

It's Friday!  That means it's time for:

This week I'm sharing:

This synopsis from the back of the book says:

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Yet another book that is AH-MAZING!
Not gonna lie though I was really hesitant to read it.
I first heard about the book while I was an intern during my Block Observation.  Which is the pre-student teaching stuff in Texas.
The freshman English teachers were having their students read the book and several of my fellow interns were reading it with their classes.
They gushed and gushed over this book.
But I wasn't really interested in reading it.

Boy was I wrong!
I couldn't put it down!
Read it! You'll love it! I promise!

Fore warning: This is a trilogy: the 1st book is amazing, the 2nd is good, but the 3rd is slightly disappointing.  Still worth reading though just so you know what happens!

Oh yeah and this is being turned into movie too. :)

Happy reading!

A Cute Puppy Story...or is it?

So this might be blog worthy, it might not be, but I'm gonna share it anyway.

We are doggie sitting for the most adorable little dachshund/chihuahua mix ever.

His name is Bear! Yeah big name for such a small cute little puppy huh!

So anyway, we're doggie sitting for two nights.
I didn't have to work today so I've been with the little cutie all day long.
(side note: I've never had a dog, only cats so it was interesting being with a doggie all day)

Bear and I had a great day.  We lounged on the couch together, we took a nice long walk together, and then we lounged together some more.

I took Bear out 5 times today, roughly every two hours.  He used the potty every time I took him out but he never went, you know, number two.

So to make a long story short.
I had to run to store real quick twice today and both times, that sweet adorable little puppy
POOPED in both the bedrooms we left him in.
Now remember, I took him out 5 times and he never went!

Not only did he poop but he stepped in the poo and it got all over both the roommates beds.
Gross.

The apartment now smells like poo.
(well not anymore, we have Scentsy's and they are like magic, so now it smells like Baked Apple Pie!)

But you know what, we can't even be mad at him, because its storming like crazy right now.
I'm talking heavy rain, thunder, lightening, the works.
And he is cuddled up in my lap, shaking because he's scared.
Now how can you be mad at that?
Yeah, you can't.

Well that's my story.
Now was it blog worthy or not?

It's Ok Thursday

So I'm linking up for ANOTHER link up party!

I think I am becoming just a tad obsessed with link ups.
But look how fun they are, today I'm linking up with Brunch with Amber and A Complete Waste of Makeup for:

Its Ok Thursdays

Here we go:

It's ok to have mixed emotions (both sad and glad) that you aren't going to have a first day of school this year.

It's ok to love when a puppy cuddles up next to you as you type a blog post.
(that is happening right now!)

It's ok to wake up early most mornings just to watch Saved by the Bell on TBS.

It's ok to brush your teeth in the shower because you think it saves time.

It's ok to be terrible at DIY stuff but see things at the store and think, "I can make that"
(No I really can't)

It's ok to sometimes go to the movies by yourself.

It's ok to sometimes read AND watch TV at the same time.

It's ok to use a men's brand razor to shave your legs.

It's ok to read the watch/read the recaps of what is happening on season 4 of True Blood because you don't have HBO.

It's ok to read while you blow dry your hair because you get bored.

It's ok to look forward to Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays because of the awesome link up parties you take part in, in blog land,

That is all.
Have a great Thursday pretty friends! :)

Kindness

It is rare nowadays to encounter true kindness.
At least from my personal experience it is.
But yesterday I was at the receiving end of that kindness.

I was working reserved fireworks viewing in Epcot.
(Yeah I get paid to watch fireworks, it's awesome)
The fireworks start at 9:00pm but we have to be out there about an hour and 15 minutes early to set up the ropes and then check the guests who have the reserved viewing in when they arrive.

It's mostly a lot of standing around, but one of the great things about viewing is the guest interaction you get.

So last night I was standing in front of the ropes when an older British couple came up to ropes.
We started chatting and I found out that they were on a 3 week holiday with their two children and their families from the UK.  They had already been in Florida for about a week and it was their last night at Disney.
The others were back at their villa's and Grandma and Grandpa were having some alone time.

SO CUTE!

So after we chatted a few minutes, I realized I wanted to make their one night alone a little extra special, so I told them to come back at around 8:45 and they could watch the show from our reserved space.

They smiled broadly, thanked me and said they would be back.

So they come back and the older gentleman and I continue chatting before the show begins.
We talked about a number of things, but I mentioned to him that I had  been to England when I was 16 and that I planned to go back one day.

He asked if I had a pen and paper. (which I didn't. fail)
He then went and grabbed on from his wife and started scribbling on the paper.
He came back and handed me the paper.
On the paper he had written his and his wife's names.
Their phone number in Wales.
And his e-mail address.

He said that if I was ever in England to give them a call so I would know someone while I was there.
And if I needed anything that they would be happy to help.
He then told me to keep in touch with them until I was able to go to the UK.

I was floored.  How nice is that.  Seriously, you don't see kindness like that anymore.
I spoke to this couple for about 45 minutes total and here they were, wanting to open their home to me if I ever came to the UK.

As I was driving home I couldn't stop thinking about small acts of kindness and how rarely I see them happening in everyday life.
So when it does happen don't take it for granted.  Accept it and most importantly pass it along.

This couple completely made my day with their small act of kindness.

I will definitely follow their example.
