Goin Courtin

Yesterday my roommate and I spent a lazy morning drinking coffee and watching this:

I love old movies. Especially old movie musicals.
And this is one of my all time favorites.

The movie is about 7 brothers who decide it's time to get married.
Well one decides he needs a wife and then rest aren't too far behind him.
Sorry I'm terrible at telling what a movie is about with giving away the whole plot.

Anyway, there is this one song in particular that I just love.

(I can't find a video that I can embed on here, so click the link)

The song is called "Goin Courtin"
Milly (the main female lead) is teaching the brothers how to court a girl.

She talks about being sweet to a girl, setting the right scene to woo a girl, how to talk to a girl, how to dance with a girl, and how to respect a girl.

All while courting a girl.

What happened to that concept?
When guys didn't just say "Wanna hang out?" as their way of saying I want to spend time with you.
When dancing didn't involve grinding your pelvis' together.
When just holding hands was a thrill.

Watching that scene and the one that follows (which involves and amazing dance scene and a barn raising):

Totally makes me which I lived in the 1890s.
I don't care that life in wilderness probably was awful.
This movie makes it totally doable and picturesque.

Le sigh.

I totally want to be courted.

Oh and only 1 day left to enter my first givaway! Go enter! :)

Totally Random Monday and a Gross Story

On this fine Monday I have no idea what to write about.
Seriously, I'm at a total loss on what would interest you lovely readers.
Don't you just hate when that happens?
You're on a roll for a while, posts are coming easily and your fingers are flying across the keyboard.
Then all of a sudden you've got nothin.
Lame I know.
Sorry.

So in light of that, this is going to be the most random post EVER.

Here are a few random fun things/thoughts from the weekend:

1.  I have my very first solo Segway tour next Sunday! I am soooo excited! :)

2.  Two of my very best friends, Kelly and Katie came to visit over the weekend!
We had a blast! Even though it monsooned the whole time.

3. It has rained for the whole weekend! Seriously I woke up on Saturday to rain, then went to bed to it Saturday night, and woke up to it again on Sunday.
I've never been so sick of rain as I am right now.

4.  Having said that, the weather in FL the last couple weeks has been AH-MAZING!

5.  I had escargo at the Food and Wine Festival the other day.  Gross I know. But it was really good.
Granted it was in a tiny little bread bowl that was covered in garlic and butter. But still it was super yummy.

6.  I haven't bought myself a new article of clothing/shoes in about 3 weeks.  I'm dying to buy these boots:

My final random thing from this weekend is a work story.
Get ready to feel totally grossed out on my behalf.

7.  While at work on Friday night something totally gross happened.
A guest came in upset over several mishaps that occurred during her trip.
Being the wonderful Guest Relations cast member that I am I listened intently while she vented to me.
While she is "venting" to me, her 2 year old is screaming bloody murder.
Like seriously, I don't think I've ever heard a child make that kind of noise before.
(Mind you, the husband is in an electric wheel chair and is doing nothing whatsoever to stop his daughters screaming)
The woman looked totally frazzled and I guess she finally just decided to give up on quieting down her 2 year old, so she picks her up, pushes her shirt to the side.....

AND STARTS BREAT FEEDING THE 2 YEAR OLD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

My first thought was to laugh because I couldn't believe she was actually breast feeding her child in a lobby full of people.
My second thought was WTF are you doing lady! Seriously this is totally gross! Like beyond gross.
Also why are you breast feeding a 2 year old? Isn't she kinda of old to be doing that?

Don't get me wrong I am all for breast feeding.  However, either do it somewhere that gives you a little more privacy or at least throw a blanket over your shoulder.

It was awkward to say the least. (And totally nasty)

Well that was my weekend in a series of totally random events and thoughts thrown together.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and you didn't see some random lady's boob like I did.

PS. Don't forget to enter my givaway here! :)

What Happens Next?

Woo Hoo it's Friday!
Well for everyone else in America it's Friday, but for me...it's Monday.
womp womp.

When you work for Disney you're days get totally screwy because we are open 365 days a year.
thus instead of Friday being Friday it's actually my Monday.

So I don't know if I've mentioned this but my job is only secure until January.  January 7th to be exact.
Now there is pretty good chance that I will get to go seasonal or even part-time.
(Maybe even full time)

But that is not in any way, shape, or form a guarantee.  So come January I could very possibly be jobless.

Which is the most terrifying thought EVER!
I've never been jobless.
I have bills to pay and weddings to be in!
I can't be jobless.

So for the last couple of weeks I've been applying like crazy for other jobs here at Disney.
All of them are professional internships, because that would at least keep me covered until June.

So what have been applying for?
The only one really worth talking about (meaning the only one I really want) is the YES Program:

(click that picture and it will take you right their web site!)

Basically the YES Program is where elementary, middle and high schools take field trips to Disney and learn something!

There are about 19 different programs that Disney teaches.  Some of the programs are in science, performing arts, history, and leadership.

It's my two favorite things combined into one.
Teaching and Disney.
Can you say a match made in heaven or what?!

So I applied and got the call to come and audition.
They wanted us to show that we can facilitate or teach.
But get this, we only had 3-5 minutes.

I decided to teach how to make a dog balloon animal.
My audition went ok but honestly, I'm really worried.
I think I botched the whole thing.
I didn't plan well enough, I ran out of time, it was loud because of all the balloons.
Nothing went how I thought it would.
I feel like the others in my audition group did so much better than me.
I know I shouldn't compare myself to them but I can't help it.
My insecurities are bubbling right now.

It's completely out of my hands now though.
The next step is another phone interview.  If I get a call I'm still in the running, if I don't I'm out.

Blah I hate these feelings.
Its awful. Just awful.

Now all I can do wait.

Love/Hate Relationship

I have a love/hate relationship with romantic comedies.

On Friday a group of my fellow Guest Relations girlies and I went to see:

When I first saw the previews I thought, "wow that looks stupid."
Then I got invited to go see it and I thought why not.
I love the movies and needed the outing, so I went.

As I'm watching the movie (which I ended up really liking) I had several very contradictory thoughts going through my head:

-the plots of most of these movies are always things that would NEVER happen in real life.
-Chris Evans is too hot for his own good.
-Guys don't ask girls on date anymore (at least not any of the guys I've encountered recently) like they do in Rom Coms.
-I wish my life was like a Rom Com.
- I don't wish my life was like a Rom Com.
- Why do I put myself through movies like this?  I'm just gonna get sad and depressed afterwards.
-Chris Evans looks really good with no shirt on.
-I'm going to be alone forever.
-Rom Coms give me hope what love could (and maybe should) be like.

See told ya they were contradictory.
Anyway, I did end up really liking the movie.
Not an Oscar nominee or anything but still VERY entertaining.
Plus it has Chris Evans...he's Captain America and VERY attractive! :)

I y'all had a wonderful weekend!
I worked and then worked some more.
But Segway training is going FABULOUSLY!

By the end of today I officially be a Segway tour guide! YAY!

Happy Monday! :)
